* Coordination of grant programs: I ensure coordination of programs from high schools, community colleges and UTA to ensure smooth transitions for grant students preparing to become bilingual teachers.

* Supervision of interns in Dallas ISD and other school districts in the Metroplex: Among my duties as supervisor, I conducted class visits followed by discussion with the intern.

* Follow-up of bilingual teachers in their induction year: My responsibilities included school visits, interview with school principals regarding inductees, and class visits followed by meeting to explore the new teachers’ needs.

2000-2004: Executive Director, The Gulf Language Institute, Texas.

Responsibilities:

I founded the Institute and its school in Xalapa, Mexico, with the purpose of offering programs in Spanish for bilingual and Spanish teachers as well as Spanish students.

In Mexico, I created specific curricula to respond to students’ needs, hired and trained teachers in the specific methodology to be used, conducted class visits and professional development workshops for these teachers.

1995-2000: Independent Research and Consulting.

Activities:

* Consulting: I worked as a consultant for Castleberry ISD, Fort Worth, to examine the needs of the growing ELL student population and help explore program options to serve these students. I also conducted various courses and workshops to prepare teachers for State Certification examinations in English as a Second Language and in Spanish and French.

* Book writing: I co-authored a reference grammar for Spanish, various grammar workbooks, and a 200-page study book for the preparation of the Spanish Texas Oral Proficiency Test.

1993-95: Ad Interim Assistant Professor, Department of Literature and Languages, Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Other responsibilities: Coordination: I coordinated the fourth semester French Courses. Books: I developed a reference grammar for French and a grammar workbook to accompany it.
